If you are managing your own wood stock, a firewood moisture meter is one of the most important tools to help you ensure that you get the most out of your appliance. Burning seasoned and kiln dried firewood will ensure you have a high performance rating, efficient heating, a clear clean glass on your stove, a cleaner chimney preventing excessive tarring which leads to chimney fires and a longer lifespan from your steel flue liner.
Burning unseasoned or damp wood is an inefficient practice as much of the energy released from the fuel is used up drying the fuel and boiling off the water within the core of the log, instead of generating heat for your home. For example, a 10Kg sack of unseasoned logs can contain up to 6 litres of water. This results in low calorific heat value from the fuel, blackened glass on your stove and damage to your flue.
We supply kiln dried oak and ash mixed hardwood logs in small carry sacks or bulk loads of 10” or 14” length logs.
With a complete range of fireside accessories in stock, we can be sure to offer you a comprehensive service for the heart of your home.
